From chaos, she creates
Thought becomes flesh and bone
She carries you, births you, holds you safe
Through the world of form.
‘Though you slight, slander and abuse
Still she stands with you
Creatrix, Mother, Blessed one
Creator, Woman, muse.

Forsaken Longing out tomorrow on Bandcamp
Forsaken Longing is a track I wrote as a response to the beautiful words of artist, writer, teacher and spiritual guide, Andrea Maxine Frade:
Always an empty time fulfilled and wasted this doesn’t keep me from dreaming anymoreWhat shall I whisper to you tonight, in that darkened room, warmed with body heatno longer patting my headwith soft breath on my neck, forsaken longing..

I am always inspired by meeting kindred spirits. One such inspiring soul I recently became acquainted with through the wonders of the internet is artist, writer, teacher and spiritual guide Andrea Maxine Frade.
Her instagram page and website are filled with the most stunning imagery and beautiful, light-filled words. I knew I’d be inspired by any poetry she’d care to send me and my track Forsaken Longing, which comes out Monday, is in response to her words below-
Always an empty time fulfilled and wasted this doesn’t keep me from dreaming anymoreWhat shall I whisper to you tonight, in that darkened room, warmed with body heatno longer patting my headwith soft breath on my neck, forsaken longing..
This was me many years ago. Before yoga, before even art school. Before I began teaching I was in search of the language of intimacy, the soft space of what it means to be known, from the inside. This was and has always been the driving force behind my work as an artist and now as a writer, teacher and spiritual guide.
For me my work is a forceful passionate and exhilarating understanding of what it means to be human, what it means to be alive, what it means to be a woman, in a body, with biology and a deep fierce soul. This is my work, my craft, my art, the essence behind my movement practice, the motivation to search and seek and find, to lift the veils. It is all a means to understand and touch into the core of our being here, the fabric of aliveness. Our conscious experience of grace.
I feel so grateful for this tender awareness and sacred process. To awaken the beauty that dwells within and hold a healing space for it all is the art form, and it lives and breathes within each of us.
It is our vulnerability and the generous nature to our truths. It is the marrow of love in all the ways we remember who we are through our own becoming. For therein lies the greatest wisdom. .

Dublin Digital Radio’s 24 Hours of Women’s Voices 2018
March 8th, International Women’s Day
“Take time out from the act of doing and just BE.
Join me as I guide you through a meditative, healing journey in ‘Visions’.
This programme is an eclectic mix of music made by women, infused with words, energy and intention, created to bring whatever it is you most need in this time and space.
With elements of ritual, mysticism, deep listening, energy, voice, sound with intention and drone, ‘Visions’ is an extension of my work as LAIR and as a sound and energy healer. It is a call to arms and a call to rest. It is an opportunity to go within and touch the hidden places of your heart…
The Divine Feminine is rising and we humans rise with her.

Protest and Politics / Cities and Memory

I made a track called ‘Sound the Alarm’ for the Cities and Memory Protest and Politics project
You can also find it and all the other entries here:
The sound file I chose (Sound Number 34) to make a track from features people protesting Jeff Sessions and his racist agenda in the US.
The woman leading this ‘street theater’ demonstration speaks with passion and urgency, and I wanted to position her voice as the main element of my track.
My aim is to have the sense of alarm she conveys- the alarm I too feel in relation to the hateful rhetoric, unlawful behaviour and unconscionable agenda of Trump and the GOP- to be the driving force in my piece.

LAIR is an incredibly unique and exciting Irish talent. Readying the second EP on Eomac’s Eotrax, she takes the label in a vastly different direction to Eomac’s first release Temple Of The Jaguar. Stemming from a background in classical and traditional singing, Laura Kilty now has a diverse range of talents, classifying herself as a composer, producer, vocalist, artist, sound-healer and yoga teacher. She also has a well-being blog which you can check out here.
Residing under many aliases including LuminouSounds for healing music and noeverything (with Eomac), Laura Kilty creates a wide range of sounds that all have a common theme of depth, subtlety and emotion. As LAIR, she cites her work as having “elements of mysticism, sacred geometry, energy, sound with intention and just sounds I love formed to make music I love.” Having listened to her LAIR EP, in its intense, gripping and emotive range, we can certainly vouch for these elements.
LAIR is out on June 9th and features two stellar Rrose remixes (one only on digital). You can pre-order the EP on vinyl and digital. Ahead of this release, we invited LAIR to share with us four tracks that inspire various elements of social change.

Huge numbers of women around the world are awakening to their true strength, their true power. The beautiful, unmanipulated, true Divine Feminine power that courses through every female on Mother Earth.
We female humans are noticing the many ways we’ve been held back and held down. The many ways we’ve been told to be small- to lose weight, lose body hair, lose the loud voice, lose the voice at all, keep shrinking in every way possible, to take up as little space as possible…
We see how our society has been set up to disempower us. To keep us scared of our own power- scared of even the idea of being powerful beings. Encouraging girls and women to see each other as opponents in a fight none of us signed up for. To keep us preoccupied with appearance. To keep us stuck in comparison and feeling ‘less than’. To keep us from seeing the profound beauty within and within each other, knowing we are all deeply, stunningly beautiful in our own unique way. To discourage independent thinking. Too often discouraging young girls from any kind of thinking beyond fitting into ridiculous ideas of beauty. Ridiculous ideas sold to men, women, girls and boys by companies who keep moving the marker of what’s ‘enough’, what’s ‘acceptable’, so they can keep making money off the insecurity they have bred into us all.
This society has tried to subjugate and divide us women at every turn and in some ways succeeded. But only for a time. NO MORE.
Millions of women stand today, eyes wide open. We are strong. We are fierce. We know our worth. We are awake and we are not going back to sleep.
We will continue to grow stronger and more empowered, guiding those who are looking for guidance, supporting those looking for support and coming from a compassionate space for all, ourselves first and foremost.
We are the birthers of human life. We are the daughters of Mother Earth. We are the Divine Feminine incarnate. And we are awake. We are rallying. We are united. We will no longer be silenced. We will no longer be small. We are a potent force and we will be heard.
“Organize, agitate, educate, must be our war cry”
Susan B.Anthony
“Until the women of Ireland are free, the men will not achieve emancipation”
Hanna Sheehy Skeffington
“A feminist is anyone who recognises the equality and full humanity of women and men”
Gloria Steinem
On this day, dedicated to the women of the world, I offer up huge love and gratitude to my mother and my sisters for being my learning ground as I explored what it means to ‘be a woman’ while growing up.
I thank all the women who have been and who continue to be part of my life for their encouragement, support and friendship.
I thank all the female musicians, composers and electronic artists who have done it and by doing so have made me believe I have the right to go do it too.
I am grateful to all the women who have come before me, who paved the way so I am a woman with the right to vote, who gets to speak and have recourse if I am threatened for doing so, who gets to speak up and speak out both in my music and in my everyday life, for lighting the way to empowerment.
To all the women who continue to be met with violence and threats, abuse and death all around the world: You are seen. You are not forgotten. The tide is turning. I send you love and support and hope I live to see the day violence is eradicated and equality re-established in the world.
I am sending huge support to the women and men of Ireland marching for the repeal of the eighth amendment. May women everywhere have the same human right as men and be allowed to govern and decide what is correct for their body in every situation.
Le grá agus meas,
Laura
LAIR / LuminouSounds / Communion
September 21, 2016 § Leave a comment
I have the various pseudonyms as a way to indicate to listeners the type of music they might expect from each strand. They all express different facets of who I am. So, from time to time, these will overlap and I shuttle between “is this a LAIR, Laura Kilty or LuminouSounds track”? Communion is one of those tracks…
I could have equally released this into the world under my LuminouSounds moniker- I was very much in my ‘other’ world while writing it. As such, I wanted to include a healing element in the video and give a suggestion for how you might engage with the piece if you are interested in connecting to the Sound Healing element within it. (And if not, I hope you just enjoy it as a piece of music!)
The name of the track does literally state the intent- Communion. There are many connotations to the word communion so of course, many directions you could go with it. My suggestion is to use it as an opportunity to spend some time communing with yourself.
1. Commune with your inner world:
Listen on headphones or with the speakers up loud so you can immerse yourself in the music. Put the video on full screen, relax your eyes and allow the fire to speak to you.
2. If you want to go further into the healing aspect:
Have a pen and paper beside you. Put the video on full screen and on repeat before hitting play. Have the volume up loud on speakers or listen on headphones to allow for immersion (while taking care to mind your ears!).
Take three deep cleansing breaths, allowing your body to relax more on each in breath, and to let go of stress on each out breath.
Hit play, keeping your eyes relaxed, and allow yourself to be taken away by the fire.
When the first play is over, pick up your notebook and without censoring yourself, write down everything that wants to come out. Truly check in with yourself. Check in with that deep inner knowing that can be quieted, or sometimes even muted, by the busy goings on of every day life.
