Laura LAIR / Bealtaine 2022

April 30, 2022 § Leave a comment

Bealtaine blessings to all!

I created these two pieces having tuned in to the energy of this Bealtaine. They may be of interest to those running Bealtaine Circles or those doing their own Bealtaine ceremony who perhaps would like some musical/energetic support.

The first is for the opening of the Circle and the second is an approx 20 minute drone that would be appropriate as background for ceremony or meditation after the opening.

Both available to stream on my Soundcloud or you can email me at lauralairmusic ATgmailDOTcom to be sent the link for download, my gift to you this Bealtaine

Laura LAIR / Carry Me Home

March 17, 2022 § Leave a comment

Although it’s called St.Patrick’s Day- or Paddy’s Day if you’re Irish (*never* Patty’s Day American friends!!)- I personally don’t see March 17th as a day for Patrick but instead a day for all facets of Irish life to be celebrated- our incredible authors, musicians, artists; our beautiful language- ár theanga, Gaeilge, our rich culture and history- a history that despite what is so often projected, equally includes Herstory. And the treatment of Irish women and girls by our systems have quite often been brutal…

‘Carry Me Home’ is a piece I’ve written as a tribute to all those women who left and never got to come home to Ireland- those women who were expelled from Irish life both literally and metaphorically. As I wrote it, I remembered especially the women and babies in Tuam and around our country, who had their lives ripped apart by the Catholic church and the barbaric mother and baby homes. All those women who died subjugated by a cruel system. I wish them peace and I send them love. Suaimhneas síoraí dá n-anam.

A day that the state dedicates to a British man who perceived the native people, in his own words, as “barbarous” and who is credited with bringing the patriarchal system of Christianity to our country feels a great day to release a piece dedicated to and for the women of Ireland.

Laura LAIR / Gile Na Gile

October 19, 2021 § Leave a comment

You can hear my newest piece ‘Gile Na Gile’ in the Chill-out Room as part of ‘Utopia’ at the NCH on Saturday.

“On Saturday 23rd October Kate Butler, Don Rosco and No Place Like Drone present The Chill Out Room as a Radical Space (Loving You) from 10am-7.30pm. This free event features new sonic work by commissioned artists and provides a communal space to imagine another future. DJs and music manipulators, No Place Like Drone, Don Rosco and Kate Butler, invoke the chill-out room of the rave era, offering nothing less than blissed out psychedelia, kosmiche, transcendentalism and mysticism, with specially commissioned music by Laura LAIR, Jonathan Deasy and Bambi. At 8pm that night MCs convene on the NCH stage for Utopia: Cypher at 8pm when Rebel Phoenix, Strange Boy, DJ Replay, Dyramid and more guests to be announced will create a freestyle cyper. The unrehearsed, spontaneous show features beats from emerging producers across Ireland, and bars from extraordinary MCs cutting through the noise. “
