Laura LAIR / Adam Perry / Collaboration Series / 5

May 14, 2020 § Leave a comment

The fifth piece in my series of Full Moon collaborations for 2020 with the wonderful artist and human Adam Perry

My contribution to our collab this month is called “What will you choose?”

Inspired by the current cycle we are in, it feels that we’ve all been here before and will be again depending on how we choose to move forward…

Our collective is made up of each individual choosing how they are going to behave in the world. This month, I feel it is vital for us all to ask within, what will you choose?!

Here is my May collaboration with @adamperryart honouring today's Full Moon 🌕 The name for this moon (there are many) that most resonates for me is the Milk Moon. It is- in the natural way of living- the time when the milk of the sheep, cows, goats etc comes in. It symbolises fertility and as the 4 Celtic festivals resonate so deeply for me, it makes sense that the names that align with the symbology of those festivals also resonate. Bealtaine is all about fertility, the return of the sun to the earth… the life-giving milk returning to the mother's breast. Being that we're talking about milk and mothering, the name Milk Moon also really puts the focus on the feminine and the life support to be found there. 🌕 Adam has made a video about his (rather epic!💫) full reading for this month, link in his bio. The message I received from the reading is the name of my track accompanying Adam's incredible artwork: "What will you choose?" 🌕 We are at a time of change- there have been many cycles like it before and there are many more like it to come… 🌕 Life does not just happen to us. Through this and every other moment of change, we get to choose our response. That is not to say the choice is easy, it's just to state there IS choice. 🌕 Be aware of where you are choosing to put your focus- be discerning in those choices. If you are feeling unhappy with the choices you've made in the past, choose differently in the now. That's the beauty of choice- rechoosing is always an option! 🌕 The beauty of being human is *we have choice*. We get to create our own individual worlds AND choose how to move through this shared one… What will you choose? 🌕 Putting the focus on relationship with the feminine within could be helpful and supportive this month. Treat yourself and your body as though you were a baby. Soothe, hold, massage…feed yourself in all ways with nurturing care. 💚 May we all choose compassion and love for self and others on this and every day 🙏

Eomac expands the roster of his recently inaugurated Eotrax imprint with the introduction of
two forerunners in Berlin’s techno scene: Kaltès and Nene H. Both have built respected
reputations as exciting artists to watch, as Kaltès organizes Tresor Berlin’s
female:pressure-affiliated party series and Nene H. turned heads with her Fountain Of Fire
performance at Berlin Atonal Festival. Their collaborative record, the Protest EP, presents a
call to arms and an empowered take on gnarly techno with a stormy industrial underbelly.

For Kaltès and Nene H., the music channels a current zeitgeist. A wail—a rallying
cry—appears on each track and provides the record’s central motif. In that sense the theme
acts as a statement to which each featured artist contributed, including the two remixers:
Orphx’s Christina Sealey and the Irish Eotrax alum LAIR. It’s a howl of anguish, but not from
heartache or misery; it’s a defiant, determined and empowered battle cry. On “Persist”,
staunch kicks summon the vocal from a swamp of metallic textures, while on “Resist” it’s
placed at the center of a thundering black hole, drawing the listener in deeper. In the hands
of Christina Sealey, it becomes a smoldering element in a rolling EBM cruiser, whereas LAIR
spreads it over a backdrop of shifting ambient textures and dark celestial grumbles.

International Woman’s Day 2017

Huge numbers of women around the world are awakening to their true strength, their true power. The beautiful, unmanipulated, true Divine Feminine power that courses through every female on Mother Earth.

We female humans are noticing the many ways we’ve been held back and held down. The many ways we’ve been told to be small- to lose weight, lose body hair, lose the loud voice, lose the voice at all, keep shrinking in every way possible, to take up as little space as possible…

We see how our society has been set up to disempower us. To keep us scared of our own power- scared of even the idea of being powerful beings. Encouraging girls and women to see each other as opponents in a fight none of us signed up for. To keep us preoccupied with appearance. To keep us stuck in comparison and feeling ‘less than’. To keep us from seeing the profound beauty within and within each other, knowing we are all deeply, stunningly beautiful in our own unique way. To discourage independent thinking. Too often discouraging young girls from any kind of thinking beyond fitting into ridiculous ideas of beauty. Ridiculous ideas sold to men, women, girls and boys by companies who keep moving the marker of what’s ‘enough’, what’s ‘acceptable’, so they can keep making money off the insecurity they have bred into us all.

This society has tried to subjugate and divide us women at every turn and in some ways succeeded. But only for a time. NO MORE.

Millions of women stand today, eyes wide open. We are strong. We are fierce. We know our worth. We are awake and we are not going back to sleep.

We will continue to grow stronger and more empowered, guiding those who are looking for guidance, supporting those looking for support and coming from a compassionate space for all, ourselves first and foremost.

We are the birthers of human life. We are the daughters of Mother Earth. We are the Divine Feminine incarnate. And we are awake. We are rallying. We are united. We will no longer be silenced. We will no longer be small. We are a potent force and we will be heard.

“Organize, agitate, educate, must be our war cry”

Susan B.Anthony

“Until the women of Ireland are free, the men will not achieve emancipation”

Hanna Sheehy Skeffington

“A feminist is anyone who recognises the equality and full humanity of women and men”

Gloria Steinem

On this day, dedicated to the women of the world, I offer up huge love and gratitude to my mother and my sisters for being my learning ground as I explored what it means to ‘be a woman’ while growing up.

I thank all the women who have been and who continue to be part of my life for their encouragement, support and friendship.

I thank all the female musicians, composers and electronic artists who have done it and by doing so have made me believe I have the right to go do it too.

I am grateful to all the women who have come before me, who paved the way so I am a woman with the right to vote, who gets to speak and have recourse if I am threatened for doing so, who gets to speak up and speak out both in my music and in my everyday life, for lighting the way to empowerment.

To all the women who continue to be met with violence and threats, abuse and death all around the world: You are seen. You are not forgotten. The tide is turning. I send you love and support and hope I live to see the day violence is eradicated and equality re-established in the world.

I am sending huge support to the women and men of Ireland marching for the repeal of the eighth amendment. May women everywhere have the same human right as men and be allowed to govern and decide what is correct for their body in every situation.

Le grá agus meas,

Laura

World Sound Healing Day

February 14, 2017 § Leave a comment

This is a downloadable track that you can use to tune into the vibration of the group I am leading here in LA on World Sound Healing Day. I invite you to join in ‘AH-ing’ for peace wherever you are with the thousands of voices around the world doing the same.

We will be putting out the intention to Heal our Planet, Heal our Waters and Raise our Consciousness through our toning.

It first guides you into the space from which to sound. Then there is approx 20 minutes of sounding, then three minutes of silence and finally three chimes to bring you back to your current time and space.

Feel free to use the track as a support in your sounding or a track for relaxation at any time of the year. If you post it online or pass it on to anyone, please just give link back/name credit. Thanks!
